Happy French Toast Day - Recipe

Today is National French Toast Day!! Growing up french toast was one of my fav meals, and I would make it for dinner sometimes too. Use our new fluffy sandwich bread for a great gf version. Make it super fun by adding lots of toppings for everyone to mix & match and make it their own.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of fluffy sandwich bread, defrosted and lightly toasted or left out to get stale so it holds up to the egg/milk mixture.

  • 2 eggs

  • splash of milk of your choice (we use organic goat milk in our home, and use coconut or almond milk at the bakery)

  • splash of vanilla

  • pinch of salt

  • toppings!! maple syrup/honey, coconut cream, crunchy bits (nuts, seeds, coconut, chocolate chips), fruit (bananas, berries).

Directions:

  1. Whisk eggs, milks, vanilla, and salt.

  2. Soak bread in egg mixture for a few minutes. Turn slices occasionally to evenly coat/soak the bread.

  3. Preheat skillet/frying pan/flat top. Add some oil if not non-stick.

  4. Cook soaked bread in pan and cook about 3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

  5. Transfer to cooling rack/plates, and top with fun sauces, toppings, and/or fruit and ENJOY!

  6. Store leftovers sealed in the fridge for a few days. I like to reheat them in the toaster for an easy next-day breakfast.
